General Pre-Operative Instructions for Oral Surgery

If you are treated under IV sedation, you may not have anything to eat or drink for at least 6 hours prior to your scheduled surgery time. If you have any medications that you must take on a daily basis, you may take these with a small sip of water only.

If you are treated under IV sedation, a responsible adult driver must accompany you to your appointment; they must remain in the office during your procedure and drive you home after your procedure. Someone must stay with you for at least 24 hours after treatment.

If you are treated under IV sedation, you must not drive any vehicle or operate any machinery for at least 24 hours following your procedure.

For your surgical appointment, please wear loose fitting jeans or pants, a short-sleeved shirt, and low heeled flat shoes.

You must remove contact lenses, jewelry, and piercings, as well as dentures or removable dental appliances, prior to surgery.
|
6. |
Please do not wear fingernail polish or acrylic nails to your surgery appointment.

7. |
For your comfort, you may bring a small blanket or throw to keep you warm after surgery. |
Please plan ahead for your recovery. We recommend you stock your refrigerator with enough cool smooth foods to last you at least 72 hours. Examples include yogurt, applesauce, pudding, ice-cream, milkshakes or smoothies, Jell-O, Ensure, Boost, or Slim-Fast. Tomato soup & other broths at room temperature are also acceptable.
