Dental implant placed in jawbone with post, abutment, and crown replacing a missing tooth

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are the most advanced and reliable tooth replacement option available in modern dentistry. An implant is a small titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone, where it integrates with the natural bone structure. Once healed, it provides a strong foundation for a customized crown, bridge, or full-arch prosthesis.

A dental implant is made up of three parts:

  • Implant Post: Replaces the root of the missing tooth
  • Abutment: Connects the implant to the restoration
  • Restoration: The visible crown, bridge, or denture that completes your smile

Unlike traditional bridges or dentures, implants are fixed in place and do not shift, slip, or interfere with speech or chewing. They look natural, feel comfortable, and are designed to last for many years with proper care.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants are considered the gold standard for tooth replacement because they support both oral health and long-term function.

Key benefits include:

  • Permanent, long-lasting tooth replacement
  • Prevents bone loss and preserves facial structure
  • Restores ability to chew and speak naturally
  • No slipping, adhesives, or removable parts
  • Protects healthy teeth (no grinding needed like bridges)
  • Improves smile appearance and confidence
  • Functions like a natural tooth root

Most importantly, implants stimulate the jawbone and help prevent the facial collapse and aging effect often seen with long-term tooth loss.

Who Is a Candidate for Dental Implants?

Dental implants may be right for you if you:

  • Have missing or failing teeth
  • Want a secure and permanent replacement
  • Are tired of removable dentures or bridges
  • Want to restore natural chewing and speaking
  • Have enough jawbone for placement or are open to grafting
  • Are looking for a long-term investment in your oral health

Most healthy adults are candidates, and we evaluate every case individually.

Types of Dental Implant Solutions We Offer

While each treatment is personalized, most implant journeys follow a similar process:

Single Tooth Implants

Ideal for patients missing one tooth or several teeth in different areas. A single implant and crown restore appearance and function without affecting adjacent teeth.

Implant Bridges

Used to replace several missing teeth in a row. Implant bridges are supported by implants instead of natural teeth, allowing for a stable and conservative treatment.

Full-Arch Implants / Teeth-In-A-Day

For patients missing most or all of their teeth, full-arch implants provide a complete smile restoration. With strategically placed implants, a full prosthetic arch can be secured for a life-changing transformation.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Combines the security of implants with the affordability of dentures. Implants stabilize the denture, eliminating slipping, discomfort, and the need for adhesive.

The Implant Process

While each treatment is personalized, most implant journeys follow a similar process:

1. Consultation & Imaging

A thorough exam, digital X-rays, and 3D imaging help our surgeons determine jawbone health, implant needs, and customized treatment options.

2. Implant Placement

The implant is placed into the jawbone with precision, often under local anesthesia or sedation for maximum comfort.

3. Healing & Integration

Over several months, the bone bonds with the implant in a process called osseointegration. A temporary restoration may be worn during this time.

4. Final Restoration

A final custom crown, bridge, or full arch restoration is attached, completing the smile and restoring full function.

Our team guides each patient through every step, ensuring a comfortable and confident experience.

Do I Need Bone Grafting Before Implants?

Some patients experience bone loss after missing teeth. If there is not enough bone to support an implant, bone grafting may be recommended to rebuild the jaw structure. This allows virtually any patient to become a candidate for implants, even if they have been told before that they were not eligible.

A consultation will determine if grafting or sinus lift treatment is needed.
